Atlético Madrid confirm extent of Antoine Griezmann's injury

Atlético Madrid have confirmed that Antoine Griezmann has suffered a relapse of the muscle injury to his right thigh.

Griezmann scored but then had to be substituted as Atlético beat Rayo Majadahonda 5-0 in the Copa del Rey on Thursday night.

And after undergoing tests on Friday, it was discovered that the scar from his previous thigh injury has reopened.

The French international will now begin rehabilitation, and a timescale for his recovery has not yet been offered by the club.
