Antoine Griezmann and Atlético Madrid have finally put an end to all the rumours about his future by confirming on Monday that he’s signed a new contract keeping him at the club until June 2027.

The new deal adds another year to his current one, which was due to run out in 2026.

Even though he still had time left on his contract, both Griezmann and the club decided to sit down and sort a new agreement.

Griezmann first joined Atleti back in 2014, and over two spells he’s racked up some serious numbers. He’s now the club’s all-time top scorer with 197 goals – beating the legendary Luis Aragonés, who had 173.

He’s also made 442 appearances, putting him eighth on the all-time list, and he’s the third-highest foreign appearance-maker for the club, behind only Jan Oblak and Ángel Correa.

During his time at the club, Griezmann has won the Spanish Super Cup (2014), the UEFA Super Cup (2018), and the Europa League (2018), scoring twice in the final as Atleti beat Marseille 3-0.
