Atlanta United return to Major League Soccer action this weekend to take on five-time MLS Cup winners LA Galaxy.

The Five Stripes have had an extended time of period off after their defeat to Santos Laguna in the group stage that saw them exit the tournament rather early. The team now has new midfielder Alexey Miranchuk in the squad, and he could be in line to make his debut Saturday night.

Interim head coach Rob Valentino will likely stick with the 4-3-3 system to start the match before potentially changing back to a 4-2-3-1 should Miranchuk enter the match in the second half. As Atlanta were unable to bring in a Designated Player-level striker near the end of the transfer window, Daniel Rios is likely to lead the line.

Here's how Atlanta could lineup vs the Galaxy.

GK: Brad Guzan - The veteran shot-stopper has been solid for most of the campaign ever since Josh Cohen's arrival.

RB: Brooks Lennon - The attacking full-back will to add to his sixth assist of the 2024 MLS season with his excellent delivery.

CB: Stian Gregersen - Gregersen has been one of the lone bright spots in this Atlanta side when he's been available for selection.

CB: Derrick Williams - Luis Abram wasn't all that convincing in the defeat to Santos, meaning Williams could return to the backline due to his strong partnership with Gregersen.

LB: Pedro Amador - Caleb Wiley's replacement is in line for a second start for the club on the left of the backline.

CM: Tristan Muyumba - Muyumba has looked off it for most of this campaign when compared to how how he performed after joining last summer but he still remains one of Atlanta's better midfielders.

CM: Bartosz Slisz - The Poland international provides stability just in front of the backline and he'll have his work cut out up against Riqui Puig.

CM: Jay Fortune - The young midfielder appears to have moved up in the pecking order ahead of Dax McCarty.

RW: Saba Lobjanidze - Lobjandize was one of Atlanta's better performers during Leagues Cup, and the team will need him to lead by example if they are to get something out of the match vs the Galaxy.

ST: Daniel Rios - Even without a new shiny striker up front, Rios has shown that he's capable of leading the line from time to time.

LW: Xande Silva - Silva will look to get back to goalscoring ways like he was when he joined the club last summer.
