AC Milan are looking to strengthen the squad this summer with some important additions and some updates have arrived regarding targets in the Premier League.

The Athletic have taken stock on the situations related to a number of players that have been linked with Milan, namely Joshua Zirkzee, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Carney Chukwuemeka, Romelu Lukaku and Trevoh Chalobah, as well as Malick Thiaw who has been linked with Newcastle.

Starting with Zirkzee, Milan’s main transfer target for the attack, Manchester United are continuing to seek an agreement for the Bologna striker, who is a priority over other options for the centre-forward position.

The 23-year-old has a €40m release clause in his contract, but negotiations with Bologna are still needed to close the deal, as is an agreement on the salary and commissions of the agents. The Rossoneri, therefore, are still in the running at the moment.

As for Newcastle’s interest in Malick Thiaw, the source simply reports that the defender has been followed for a long time by the Magpies. The Athletic confirms that Emerson Royal will leave Spurs, while Hojbjerg ‘hopes that his performances at the Euros have caught the attention of other clubs’.

Chelsea hold Chukwuemeka ‘in high regard’ and believe his value has increased compared to the £20m they invested two years ago to snatch him from Aston Villa, while they are not willing to entertain Milan’s preferred option to buy formula.

The source adds that the London club have told the following first team players that either they can leave: Armando Broja, Lukaku, Kepa, Casadei, David Datro Fofana, Malang Sarr and Chalobah.
