Aston Villa forward Katie Robinson says that she is aiming to push for a recall to the England senior squad.

The 22-year-old has five senior caps for the Lionesses but she is continuing her development with the under-23s for the time being.

When speaking in an England media event, Robinson said that her aim is to push for a recall to the senior squad in the coming months.

“It’s definitely been a journey but these highs and lows are all part of it,” Robinson said. “Hopefully, I can get back to the seniors one day and I’ll be working hard to try to do that.”

At club level, Robinson opted to swap Brighton & Hove Albion for Aston Villa over the summer. The forward explained how moving clubs was also part of the bigger plan to be selected by England head coach Sarina Wiegman again.

She said “I think in the summer, I really tried to find the right club for me. It’s [Aston Villa] the right place for me to develop and improve. I’m looking forward to hopefully putting in some good performances.

“Confidence is massive in football; when you are confident, you are playing your best. I’m the type of player that likes to have an arm around the shoulder, I want that confidence to really back myself.”

Robinson has been consistently involved for the national team at senior and under-23 levels in recent years. Back at club, Robinson has a plethora of international stars around her to hopefully help her build the confidence that she needs. When asked if any of her teammates are good role models, Robinson singled out a former England favourite.

She said “I would definitely say Rach Daly. She’s a great player to be alongside and train with, she works really hard and always does her best for the team. I’ve had a few conversations with Rach, but it’s definitely something I can look to do more of to get that information off her. She has had so much experience with England at the highest level, so they are the people you want to get that feedback off.

“I’m really clear on the things that I need to improve on. I’m really focused on doing those things so I can progress to the seniors.”

Robinson could be in action for England under-23s when they face The Netherlands in Velp this evening.
