Aston Villa have announced the signing of England international goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck on an initial two-year deal.

The former Sheffield United youth product began her football journey at Manchester City but her time at the club derailed by a left occipital infarct that threatened to end her career.

After not featuring at all in the 2023/24 season, Roebuck signed for Barcelona for the 2024/25 campaign and featured twice for the Spanish champions.

Now, Roebuck has returned to the WSL penning a two-year deal with Aston Villa after leaving Barça by mutual consent.

"We are delighted that Ellie will be joining our club," said the club's Director of Women's Football, Marisa Edwards.

"She is an exciting addition to the team and is a player with a lot of experience who can help drive our performance levels."
