This Aston Villa kit launch has confused us somewhat.

The Midlands club have launched their new third strip for the season and it’s a lovely mixture of purple and pink. It looks really smart and has been designed by Brum-based designer (and now kit manufacturer) Luke 1977.

There’s just one thing though, it’s virtually the same colour and shade as the claret and blue they wear at home. Are we missing something here?

It’s a really nice shirt, though while the objective of a kit is to represent the club and to look good, the third strip is meant to be different to the home and away shirt – it’s sort of the point.

Anyway, we’ll give this a high mark for appearance but for practicality? Zero out of ten.
