The Villans announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning
The 32-year-old York-born midfielder has signed on again with the Midlands club until next summer, although there is an option to extend the arrangement by a further year.
Staniforth joined Aston Villa from the club’s Barclays Women’s Super League rivals Manchester United back in January 2023. She has gone on to make 46 appearances for The Villans in all competitions. The player has brought vital experience to the Aston Villa midfield. Staniforth has helped Aston Villa to record two top half of the table finishes in her two-and-a-half-seasons with the club.
The player has an important role to play at Aston Villa this season and the club have therefore tied her down on a new contract.
Staniforth joins teammates Sarah Mayling, Rachel Daly and Anna Patten in signing a new contract with Aston Villa since the end of last season. The club are working hard to put down solid foundations ahead of new boss Natalia Arroyo’s first full season in charge at Villa Park.
Further Aston Villa squad news will be announced in due course.
