In a recent report, Cadena SAR stated that Aston Villa are hoping to sign Villarreal midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, who is playing on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, this summer. It has been mentioned that the Villans are eyeing a move to bring the Argentina international to Villa Park during the summer transfer window.

Lo Celso is enjoying a solid loan spell with the Yellow Submarine as he has put in a string of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. The 27-year-old has found the back of the net once and earned three assists in 25 appearances for Villarreal this season in all competitions.

The Rosario-born talent has proven his worth as a reliable performer by averaging 1.6 tackles, 1.3 shots, 1.5 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from midfield after completing 85.9% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at his parent club Tottenham is set to run out in the summer of 2025. Therefore, Aston Villa will have to make a good offer if they want to convince the North London club to part ways with the Argentine midfield ace in this off-season.

What Will Lo Celso Bring To Aston Villa?

Lo Celso is a good tackler of the ball and can make life difficult for the opposition in the middle of the park. He is a technically gifted footballer who can strike the ball with venom from long range.

The Argentine midfielder has got the vision to create a few inviting chances in the final third and can make a few energetic runs with the ball from midfield. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also function as an attacking midfielder if told to do so.

Lo Celso will undoubtedly improve the quality of the Villans‘ match-day squad. He might even perform at his best under his former manager and current Aston Villa boss Unai Emery with whom he played for at Villarreal earlier this season.
