Aston Villa 'eyeing Ligue 1 star' in bid to sign Diego Carlos replacement | OneFootball

Aston Villa are set to make a move for Marseille centre-back Duje Ćaleta-Car after Diego Carlos’s injury woes were confirmed this week.

That’s according to reports in Birmingham Live and So Foot, which claim that Steven Gerrard’s side will look for a replacement for Carlos after he ruptured his Achilles at the weekend.

The Brazilian defender will be out for the next six months and with Kortney Hause going on loan to Watford, Villa are left with just three central defenders.

As such the Villains will head back to Marseille this summer to try and recruit Ćaleta-Car.

Gerrard’s side already signed Boubacar Kamara from OM during this window and the midfielder is believed to have given the club a glowing reference to his former team mate.

So Foot say that Marseille would accept bids for Ćaleta-Car in the region of €15m.
