WSL Full-Time were informed of the deal via an official club press release from The Villans just a short time ago.
Maritz has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Aston Villa with the option of a further year.
The 28-year-old Swiss international full-back has spent the last three-and-a-half years with Arsenal. She was a FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup winner with The Gunners last season while she has also played for the club in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
On the international stage, Maritz has represented Switzerland on over 100 occasions at senior level. She has lots of major tournament experience under her belt.
After adding Maritz to her squad, Aston Villa head coach Carla Ward said “We’re delighted to welcome Noelle to the club. She comes with a wealth of experience at the highest level having played in the Champions League as well as winning trophies wherever she’s been.
“It’s a really important signing for us as we continue to develop. She will add quality and experience to an evolving backline and we’re delighted she’s chosen to continue her journey with us.”
Maritz becomes Aston Villa’s first signing of the January transfer window.
