In a recent report, Calciomercato stated that Aston Villa are showing interest in AS Roma forward Tammy Abraham. It has been claimed that the Villans are eyeing a move to bring the English striker back to Villa Park.

Abraham’s Up And Down Season At Stadio Olimpico This Season

Abraham has endured an inconsistent campaign with Roma as he has struggled to be productive at times with his performances before the 2022 FIFA World Cup break. The 25-year-old has registered four goals and two assists in 20 matches for the Italian club this season across all competitions.

The English sensation has caught the eye at times by averaging 2.3 shots and 1.1 key passes per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he needs to improve his link-up play in the final third after making 74.3% of his attempted passes in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).

The former Chelsea forward’s current contract at Stadio Olimpico is set to run out in the summer of 2026. Therefore, it won’t be easy for Aston Villa to land Abraham on the cheap next year.

Abraham is proficient at finding space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. He can also make some decent plays for others around him and can make a few powerful runs with the ball. However, the English centre-forward has struggled to be consistent with his goal-scoring numbers this season. Still, he has got a wealth of experience at the highest level and could still prove himself to be a world-class goal-scorer someday.

At 25, Abraham’s best years are ahead of him which makes him a decent option for the Villans to pursue this January or at the end of this campaign. However, as mentioned earlier, he is under a long-term contract at Roma which will make things tough for the West Midlands club next year.

We can expect Abraham to inject more firepower into Unai Emery‘s attack and help Aston Villa push for a European place in the Premier League over the next few years. Thus, it makes sense for the Villans to launch a big-money move to bring the English striker back to Villa Park.

During his previous stint at the Midlands club, Abraham managed to score 26 goals and secure three assists in 40 matches for them across all competitions. If Aston Villa can get a similar return on investment, they should consider going all out to snap the Roma striker up in 2023.
