In a recent report, The Daily Mail stated that Aston Villa are eager to recruit Manchester United custodian Matej Kovar this summer. It has been mentioned that the Villans are showing interest in recruiting the Czech Republic sensation in this off-season.

Kovar’s Decent Loan Spell At Sparta Prague Last Season

Kovar had an impressive loan spell at Sparta Prague last season when he put in several solid displays in goal in Fortuna Liga. The 23-year-old conceded 34 goals and secured 11 clean sheets in 32 matches for the Czech Republic outfit across various competitions.

The talented goalie caught the eye with his performances in between the sticks for Sparta Prague last season.

Kovar is under contract at the Mancunian club until the summer of 2025. Hence, the Villans will have to make a good offer if they want to secure his services in this ongoing transfer window.

Should Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery Get Kovar On Board?

Kovar can be a safe pair of hands in goal for his team when he is playing well on the pitch. He has got decent reflexes that help him pull off a few important saves at the back. The Czech keeper is a solid handler of the ball as well but needs to find a way to improve his ball distribution from inside his penalty area.

At 23, Kovar has still got a lot of room for improvement in his game. However, he has struggled to break into Man United’s first team so far. Thus, it makes sense for the player to seek a move elsewhere in search of more playing time in the coming years.

Kovar is good enough to fight for a regular starting spot at Aston Villa next season. He will also enhance the overall quality of Unai Emery‘s match-day squad.

However, it remains to be seen whether Kovar can maintain his good form in English football next season if the Villans manage to land him this summer. He has the potential to become a world-class player in his position someday. Hence, the West Midlands club would be wise to go all out to get Kovar on board before the end of this summer transfer window.
