According to Patrick Berger, AS Roma are set to hijack AC Milan’s deal for Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Manu Koné.
It has previously been reported that Koné is looking for a route out of the Bundesliga, and Gladbach have agreed to grant the Frenchman his wish.
AC Milan had looked set to make their long-standing interest in Koné official, having agreed personal terms with the 23-year-old earlier this week.
However, Roma now look set to hijack the deal as they hope to reach an agreement with Gladbach.
As stated in the report, Daniele De Rossi’s side have made an offer for the midfielder believed to be in the region of €15 million, but it was quickly rejected by the Foals as it was not deemed suitable enough.
Gladbach are demanding a fixed fee of €20 million for Koné with €5 million more in future add-ons.
It is understood that the 23-year-old has now agreed to join Roma, with the Italian side offering Koné a five-year deal until 2029.
At this stage, no agreement has been reached, but Roma are in pole position with Milan failing to make an offer.
