According to Foot Mercato AS Monaco are targeting 23-year old Leicester midfielder Boubakary Soumaré as a replacement Aurélien Tchouaméni – who signed for Real Madrid in a €100m move earlier in the summer. Soumaré is reported to be the Principality side’s priority midfield signing this window.

Having edged slowly into Brendan Rodger’s starting eleven at Leicester in the Premier League at the start of last season, the midfielder has quite rapidly dropped out of the Foxes’ side – playing only two matches in the last 17. In total, Soumaré played 19 times in the Premier League, and made 14 appearances in the Europa League – scoring one goal in each competition.

Monaco aim to use the Premier League’s intense competitiveness to their advantage, by positioning themselves clearly for Soumaré in this mid-stage of the summer transfer window. The former Paris Saint-Germain youth prospect be could be set for a return to the French first tier after being part of Lille’s Ligue 1 winning side in 2020/2021 – only a year after moving to England from Northern France.
