Offensive momentum on both sides

In this match, Adi Hütter lined up his side in a 4-4-2 with a KehrerDier partnership in central defense, with the duo of Camara and Zakaria in midfield. From the first minute of play, both teams’ attacking players came to the fore, with Adams (1′) and Maghnes Akliouche (2′) seeing their attempts turned away by the opposing goalkeeper. Three minutes later, Gineitis found a gap in the Monaco defense to give his team the lead (0-1, 6′).

MikaGOAL strikes again, and Lamine fires in a wonder goal

The Monegasque reaction was not long in coming, but Paris Brunner was denied twice by Paleari (8′, 15′). Shortly thereafter, it was finally his attacking partner Mika Biereth who managed to beat the Italians, scoring his third goal of preseason (1-1, 16′), after finding the net against Coventry (0-5) and Arminia Bielefeld (0-3).

Ten minutes later, Monaco thought they had taken the lead, but Lamine Camara, on the lookout following a superb breakthrough from Brunner, was flagged offside (1-1, 24′). It was only a matter of time before the Senegalese midfielder’s deflected effort surprised everyone at the very end of the first half and finally nestled under the crossbar (2-1, 45th). AS Monaco thus took the lead at the break.

Golovin doubles the lead

After the break, both teams tried to control the ball and impose their rhythm on the game. As they did at the end of the first half, the Rouge et Blanc were the sharpest, and captain Denis Zakaria saw his powerful right-footed shot pushed out for a corner (57′). This domination was confirmed by Alexsandr Golovin who doubled the lead just after the hour (3-1, 64′).

The “first round” goes to the Rouge et Blanc

In the final five minutes, George Ilenikhena (86′) and Maghnes Akliouche (87′) tried their luck, but without managing to find the back of the net. Finally, on a one-on-one won by Radoslaw Majecki against Aboukhlal (90+1′), the referee blew the final whistle.
