As reported by Bild and confirmed by TZ, prosecutors believe Arturo Vidal started what escalated into a nightclub brawl after Bayern Munich’s annual visit to Oktoberfest in September 2017.

Vidal, who is known for his aggression on and off the field, has found himself in hot water again after an incident in the VIP lounge of the Crown’s Club. Vidal and his brother were both charged with the crime in which three patrons were injured, including a man who reportedly had a three-litre bottle of Grey Goose smashed over his head.

While the cause of the fight remains unknown, there’s damning evidence that proves Vidal was an aggressor and acted violently that night.

“We believe that the conflict was initiated by Arturo Vidal,” chief public prosecutor Florian Weinzierl said, “On the club’s video recordings, Vidal can be seen striking two other guests with at least two punches. That stands in contradiction with initial claims that Vidal had merely attempted to de-escalate the fight.”

Vidal’s brother was allegedly throwing glasses during the incident – which lasted over a minute.

However, the club owner was willing to testify on Vidal’s behalf that he did not strike anyone with a foreign object, “Vidal did not have a bottle in his hand. I would say that in court, too.”

The prosecutor’s office will now have to decide on a date for the trial, which could take place during the summer as Vidal is rumoured to be moving to a new club while he recovers from a bad knee injury.

This is hardly a summer fit for a king.
