Crystal Palace have secured a hard-fought point after holding Arsenal at the Emirates on Thursday.

The Gunners' recent run of positive form was checked by a stubborn Palace outfit, who kept them to five shots for the game.

Mikel Arteta's side were sluggish in the final third and failed to get Emile Smith Rowe - outstanding in recent games - enough of the ball.

The best chances came from Palace, with James Tomkins' header hitting the bar in the first half.

Christian Benteke then drew a world-class stop from Bernd Leno shortly before the break.

The point leaves Arsenal 11th on 24 points and Palace two points and a league place worse off.

Speaking after the game, Gunners defender Hector Bellerin was happy with his team's effort against Palace.

"They defended well with loads of players and we tried to break them down. That little spark, that bit of creativity was missing today," the Spaniard said.

"We can't fault the team for effort, we tried hard but we didn't have that luck that we needed. They knew what they were coming here for and they take a point.

"There was no space to play in behind them, sometimes you need one moment to open the scoring and then you get that space.
