Arsenal host a midweek London derby on Tuesday night when they welcome mid-table Chelsea to the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners secured an imperative three points at Wolves on Saturday which returned them to the top of the Premier League table. Victory on Tuesday would see them open up a four-point gap over Manchester City, who'll have two games in hand before they travel to Brighton on Thursday.

Arsenal were far from spectacular last time out but, after a tough eight days which included their exit from Europe, a win at Molineux was all that mattered to keep them firmly in the title race.

Chelsea's tumultuous 2023/24 campaign continued on Saturday as they were beaten by Man City in the FA Cup semi-finals. The Blues produced a fine performance against the beleaguered holders but a woeful showing in the final third undermined their good work.

Mauricio Pochettino's side are destined for a mid-table Premier League finish but both he and the club would take great satisfaction from disrupting Arsenal's title charge.

Here's 90min's preview of Tuesday's game in north London.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta should be able to call upon an almost full cohort of players yet again on Tuesday night.

Jurrien Timber remains the Gunners' only injury absence. The Dutchman still has a couple of steps to go before he can return to competitive action.

Kai Havertz and Jorginho are both in contention to face their former club.

Arsenal predicted lineup vs Chelsea (4-3-3): Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Tomiyasu; Jorginho, Rice, Odegaard; Saka, Havertz, Trossard.

Chelsea were dealt an enormous fitness blow after their FA Cup semi-final defeat to Man City when Pochettino confirmed top scorer Cole Palmer is unlikely to feature against Arsenal due to illness. Left-back Ben Chilwell is also back on the sidelines alongside Malo Gusto.

There was hope Levi Colwill would recover from a toe injury in time to feature against Man City but the defender didn't make Saturday's matchday squad and is unlikely to feature on Tuesday.

The Blues are also without Romeo Lavia, Lesley Ugochukwu, Reece James, Christopher Nkunku and Wesley Fofana.

Chelsea predicted lineup vs Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Petrovic; Disasi, Chalobah, Silva, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Madueke, Gallagher, Sterling; Jackson.

Arsenal vs Chelsea score prediction

Victory over an injury-ravaged Wolves isn't going to signal a major renaissance in north London, although their resilience given their physical shortcomings was on full display at Molineux.

Arsenal still look worse for wear and they'll be facing a Chelsea side keen to compromise their title tilt. The Blues have generally impressed against superior opposition this season and were able to create a hatful of chances against Man City on Saturday, though Palmer's absence is undoubtedly a massive disappointment.

However, the Blues have performed poorly away from home in 2024 and Arsenal may not need to be at their best to overcome a woefully inconsistent outfit bereft of maturity.
