Arsenal are reportedly “uncertain” about Leicester City star Youri Tielemans and they have “got their feelers out” for alternatives in centre-midfield.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with Tielemans over the past few months.

The midfielder was expected to leave Leicester City in the summer as he entered the final year of his current contract.

The Foxes valued him at around £30m in the summer but Arsenal decided against making a move for him. This is despite a new midfielder being a priority for the Londoners.

Leicester have gradually grown into the 2022/23 campaign and Tielemans continues to shine for them even though his future at the club remains uncertain.

The Belgium international has reportedly made it clear that he does not intend to sign a new contract so Leicester could look to move him on in the January transfer window so they lose him for nothing in the summer.

Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers recently insisted that Tielemans is “wonderful to work with”.

“He has been a fantastic professional for us, even though he is in the situation with his contract,” Rodgers said last month.

“He’s never wavered from his mentality and what he gives to the team. He provides the team with know-how in the game; he is wonderful to work with.

“I’d love him to sign another deal and continue his journey at Leicester, but we’ll see.”

But Arsenal are clearly not fully sold on Tielemans. If they were 100% sure about him, they could have signed him in the summer without much trouble.

Yet they decided against doing this and journalist Dean Jones has offered an update on Arsenal’s search for a new midfielder.

“Maybe some of it is around the fee, maybe it’s to do with Leicester not wanting to sell there and then,” Jones told GiveMeSport.

“Also it’s to do with the fact that Arsenal have got their feelers out and are looking at other players right now, so I still think the Tielemans situation is quite uncertain.“

Arsenal were also linked with Douglas Luiz in the summer but that transfer is off the table as he has penned a new long-term deal at Aston Villa.

Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow is one player Arsenal are looking at, according to German outlet BILD (via The Boot Room).

The Gunners are ‘considering a bid’ for the 25-year-old who is impressing for Switzerland at the World Cup in Qatar.

Sow is out of contract in 2024 so Frankfurt will likely come under increased pressure to sell him in the coming months.

The report notes that Nottingham Forest failed to sign Sow for £22m in the summer. It is also suggested that Frankfurt ‘will command a far bigger transfer fee’ in January.
