Arsenal are monitoring Ajax teenager Jorrel Hato ahead of the summer transfer window.
Mikel Arteta wants to add a defender, central midfielder and forward to his squad during the upcoming transfer window and has Hato on his radar.
The 18-year-old has cemented himself as a regular in the Ajax team this season and has made 45 appearances in all competitions for the Eredivisie outfit. Having made his debut in January 2023, he became the third-youngest debutant in Ajax history, behind Ryan Gravenberch and Clarence Seedorf.
Comfortable at centre-back or left-back, Hato made his senior debut for the Netherlands in November and is regarded as one of the most promising young defenders in Europe.
Arsenal signed Jurrien Timber from Ajax last summer and could return to Amsterdam for Hato, despite the defender signing a new long-term contract at The Johan Cruyff Arena earlier this season.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Hato’s new deal has not dissuaded Arsenal in their pursuit of the talented teenager, who has been scouted extensively in recent months.
Arsenal will also target a goalkeeper with Aaron Ramsdale set to move on in search of regular first-team football.
The Gunners are monitoring options classed as home-grown, including the club’s former shot-stopper, Wojciech Szczesny, who fits the quota having spent three seasons in the North London side’s academy set-up after arriving from Poland.
