The Australia striker settled the battle of Britain with a superb display at Meadow Park. Foord opened the scoring early in the first half with a fine far-post header from debutant Mariona Caldentey’s delivery.

Despite dominating proceedings, Arsenal had to wait until the hour mark for their second goal when Foord finished after a mazy run from Kim Little.

Moments later Alessia Russo added the third with a drive from the edge of the area. Foord completed her treble with a spectacular volley at the far post from Katie McCabe's cross.

Little added the fifth from the penalty spot and Foord wrapped up a comprehensive win when she tapped in a rebound from close range.

Arsenal will meet Rosenborg, surprise 3-2 winners on penalties after a 2-2 draw against Atletico Madrid, on Saturday for a place in round two of qualifying, the tournament's final phase before it reaches the group stage.

Saoirse Noonan scored a hat-trick as Celtic came from behind to beat KuPS of Finland 3-1 after extra-time. Substitute Noonan's 64th-minute header cancelled out Roosa Ariyo's early opener for the Finnish champions.

Noonan then found the net twice in the first period of extra time to secure victory for the Scottish title holders, who will face Lithuanian side Gintra next.

Goals from Chloe McCarron and Demi Vance were not enough for Glentoran as they lost 3-2 against Slovenian side NS Mura, and Cardiff's hopes of an upset quickly disappeared as they slumped 7-0 to Dutch club Twente.
