Arsenal have completed a sensational deadline day swoop for Atlético Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.
The Gunners have been linked with Partey throughout the summer but as of last week, a move for Lyon’s Houssem Aouar seemed more likely.

However, in a surprise deadline day twist, the north Londoners opted to pay Partey’s €50m release clause and he has become the club’s fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Gabriel Magalhães, Willian and Rúnar Alex Rúnarsson.
Partey came through the youth system at Atlético and went on to make 188 senior appearances for the club, scoring 16 goals.
Meanhwile, Atlético have announced the arrival of Lucas Torreira on a season-long loan from Arsenal, with a reported option to buy included..
