Arsenal have confirmed that Henrikh Mkhitaryan will wear the number seven shirt.
The Armenia international joined the north London club on Monday evening in a swap deal with Alexis Sánchez.
And today the Gunners have revealed that not only will the former Manchester United forward be replacing the Chilean striker in the team – he’ll be wearing his old number as well.
As Alexis has already worn the number seven for Arsenal in the Europa League this season, Mkhitaryan will need to wear a different number if he features in the knockout rounds of the competition.
Uefa rules don’t allow two players to wear the same number for a club in a single season.
Mkhitaryan revealed in his first interview with the Arsenal website that it was ‘a dream come true’ to sign for the Emirates Stadium outfit.
