Oleksandr Zinchenko has enjoyed a fine start to life as an Arsenal player, both on and off the pitch.
Following former Manchester City teammate Gabriel Jesus to north London, Zinchenko’s £30 million move to the Emirates was completed earlier this week, and he kicked off with a 4-0 win over Chelsea on his debut.
Zinchenko impressed Arsenal fans with his performance against Chelsea, but has also built excitement with his antics on the training pitch since becoming a Gunner.
Another key cog in Mikel Arteta’s rebuild, Zinchenko adds Premier League winners pedigree to Arsenal’s squad and has given them the much-needed depth and versatility that held them back last season.
And while Arsenal fans are already excited to see watch their squad take on the 2022/23 campaign following a perfect pre-season thus far, the Ukrainian has been impressing them further with some antics on the training field.
Knocking a ball around the pitch with Rob Holding during a training session, the 25-year-old demonstrated a supreme technical ability and control over the ball, which has gotten Arsenal fans excited on Reddit.
It’s clear to see why, because Zinchenko’s skills were incredibly silky. Especially for a left-back. In the clip, he plucks the ball out of thin air with a sublime first touch, popping it back into the air and then showing off incredible skill to balance the ball on his chest and head, before sending it back to Holding.
Seriously, Zinchenko has no right to be pulling this off. Take a look below.
The control he possesses to perform kick-ups with the side of his foot like that is unbelievable.
And let’s just take a moment to appreciate the head and chest control. Zinchenko makes it look effortless, when in actual fact it’s an incredibly difficult skill to have.
It’s no wonder Arsenal fans are so excited to see what he can bring to the squad next season. His quality is there for all to see in such a short clip.
Let’s take a look at how fans reacted to the incredible show of ability.
Arsenal already have Kieran Tierney to fill their starting left-back position, but his fitness record has often left them scratching their heads.
Zinchenko bolsters the role significantly, and gives the Gunners options in midfield due to his versatility, considering he plays further up for the Ukraine national team.
It’s now on Arteta to turn a solid pre-season into an equally as effective 2022/23 campaign to improve on narrowly missing out on a fourth place Premier League finish last season.
