Alexandre Lacazette has admitted he’s in talks with other clubs over his future and hoping to return to playing in Europe next season.

With his Arsenal contract now just over two months away from its expiry, the issue of Alexandre Lacazette’s future is starting to come into sharper focus.

Mikel Arteta has previously suggested Arsenal will discuss the prospect of a contract extension at the end of the season, with reports suggesting the club could offer a new one-year deal with the option for a further season afterwards.

But Lacazette is clearly considering his options, admitting to the French media that he’s already in talks with potential new clubs over a summer move – including his old team Lyon.

“I am in discussions with a lot of clubs. I am open,” Lacazette told Canal Plus (via Football.London).

“I have never cut contact with Lyon since I left. I try to return to the club once or twice a year to see the medical staff because we are really close. Lyon knows that I am free, they have come to the information.”

Though one issue that’s clearly important to Lacazette, and may affect the chances of a return to Lyon, is the question of whether or not they have European football.

As things stand, Lyon are eighth, in touching distance of the European places in terms of points but with a few teams to overtake to get there and only six games left.

They may well miss out on Europe completely, which Lacazette admits would affect his decision.

“It’s a bit more complicated,” Lacazette conceded. “I want to play in Europe, it’s been a long time since I played in the Champions League, I’m missing it.

“It’s a little more complicated, nothing is impossible in life, but it’s a little more complicated.”
