Arsenal make contact for £68m summer signing | OneFootball

Arsenal have made contact with Eberechi Eze’s representatives to discuss a deal for the Crystal Palace midfielder.

Eze has emerged as a transfer target for Arsenal who are ready to rival Tottenham Hotspur for the England international. The 27-year-old has a release clause of £68m in his contract at Selhurst Park and Arsenal are now informed on the conditions of a deal.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that talks were held with Eze’s camp over the weekend. The midfielder scored eight goals and assisted eight more in the Premier League last season, ranking sixth in the division for shot-creating actions and fifth for successful take-ons.

Eze ended the campaign with 14 goals in all competitions, including the winner in the FA Cup final win over Manchester City. He also netted his first England goal during March’s international break.

Arsenal are stepping up their efforts to strengthen the squad with high-profile additions sought in the final third. Eze is viewed as a player who can add goal-threat from a left-sided position and ease the creative reliance on Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka.

The Gunners also want to bring in a centre-forward, while the club are closing in on a quartet of arrivals. Deals have been agreed for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, Brentford captain Christian Norgaard and Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. Discussions are also ongoing with Valencia over Spain u-21 centre-back Cristhian Mosquera.
