Football.London report that Arsenal scouts have been tracking James-Wilden throughout the season, and they were in attendance again for Stevenage’s friendly at Wingate & Finchley on Tuesday.

With Hector Bellerin still out, Jordi Osei-Tutu on loan and Stephan Lichtsteiner departing on a free transfer, Carl Jenkinson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are the only remaining right-back options for the start of the new season.

James-Wildin is valued at £1m, made 41 appearances for Stevenage last season and is also a full international for Antigua and Barbuda. Whether he could make the step up to Premier League football is a big question mark though.

Arsenal have had links to Stevenage in the past, loaning them Ben Sheaf in 2018, though that was before James-Wildin had joined the club. Nonetheless, it could help ensure negotiations run a bit more smoothly.

A cheap prospect with the potential to step up and a willingness to play a backup role would be an ideal signing at right-back. If Arsenal think James-Wildin has that potential, they’ll get no complaints here.
