In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Arsenal have identified Real Madrid keeper Andriy Lunin as a target. It is believed that the Gunners are showing interest in recruiting the Ukraine international in the summer transfer window.

Lunin’s Impressive Numbers In Spanish Football This Season

Lunin is having a solid campaign at the Madrid club after he put in a series of impressive displays at the heart of their backline. The 25-year-old has conceded 19 goals and picked up ten assists in 23 matches for Los Blancos this season across all competitions.

The Ukrainian sensation has done well to average 1.1 clearances and 2.8 long balls per game in La Liga. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from the back after completing 85.9% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium will run out in the summer of 2028. Hence, it won’t be easy for the Gunners to get a deal done for him on the cheap at the end of this campaign. Still, Mikel Arteta is in dire need of a new number-one goalie and could be inclined to move in for him later this year.

What Will Lunin Bring To Arsenal?

Lunin is a solid handler of the ball and can make some important saves for his team inside his half. He doesn’t put his foot through the ball when needed and can distribute the ball relatively well from the back.

We can expect Lunin to bring more quality and depth to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s goal-keeping department. He is good enough to serve as the North London club‘s first XI next season if Arteta is willing to put his faith in the player.

At 25, Lunin has his best years are ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Gunners to consider in the summer. He has got the winning mindset to help Arsenal compete for some major trophies in the coming years. However, it remains to be seen whether the Ukraine international can make a smooth transition to life in Premier League football if the Gunners end up bringing him to the Emirates Stadium when the transfer window reopens later this year.
