Manchester United made major changes to their goalkeeping department last summer with David de Gea leaving the club after a decade-long spell.

Inter Milan stopper Andre Onana was the man bought in to replace the Spaniard and was expected to dramatically change United’s style of play.

However, Onana has suffered a turbulent season at Old Trafford and we certainly haven’t seen the best of the ‘keeper during his first season.

As reported by Spanish media, United are open to adding to their group of goalies and are eyeing up a move for Real Madrid’s Andriy Lunin.

The Ukrainian has performed well in Thibaut Courtois’ absence, particularly in the Champions League with Madrid reaching the semi-finals via a penalty shootout against Manchester City.

The Spanish giants are now favourites for the competition which would be an historic 15th for the famous club and Lunin would have certainly played his part.

Having played 28 times for Los Blancos this season, the 25-year-old now has a taste for football at the very top level but with Courtois remaining one of the very best in the world, he will be expected to drop down to the bench when the Belgian returns.

United are reportedly one of three clubs circling around the ‘keeper and super agent Jorge Mendes is open to discussion over Lunin’s future.

Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are the others that have “made proposals” to Mendes and United will face stiff competition for his signature.

Fichajes relay that Madrid might be open to a deal but would be looking for “three or four times” more than the €8.5 million they paid to Zorya Lugansk in the summer of 2018.

Whether he would come in as first choice at United is up for debate with Onana showing signs of settling down under the pressure of being number one at the Theatre of Dreams.

The managerial situation is also another huge factor at United with Onana a statement signing for Ten Hag but the Dutchman is fighting for his life at Old Trafford after a wretched second season in charge.
