In a recent report, The Independent revealed that Arsenal have set their sights on Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak. It has been stated that the Gunners are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Swedish centre-forward in the summer.

Isak is having a productive campaign at the Tyneside club as he has put in a run of impressive displays for them in the final third. The Swedish talent has been involved in 37 matches for the Magpies this season, finding the back of the net 24 times and picking up one assist in all competitions.

The 24-year-old has been a decent performer in the opposition half and deserves credit for averaging 2.6 shots, 0.9 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has also been tidy when distributing the ball after making 79.4% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at St. James’ Park will run out in the summer of 2028 which could make it difficult for the Gunners to sign him on a cut-price deal later this year.

What Will Isak Bring To Arsenal?

Isak is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has proven himself to be a lethal finisher in front of the opponent’s goal and can even create the odd chance for his teammates up top.

The Swedish striker is also quite clever with his movements in and around the opposition penalty box. He already knows the Premier League well and won’t take much time to settle into life at Arsenal if Mikel Arteta can devise a way to snap him up this summer.

We can expect Isak to bring more firepower to the North London club’s frontline. He has what it takes to nail down a regular starting spot at the Emirates Stadium next season. Therefore, Arteta should consider getting a deal done for him in the upcoming transfer period.

At 24, Isak has got his best years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Gunners to pursue at the end of this season. He has what it takes to help Arsenal challenge for the Premier League title once again in the coming years.
