Arsenal have reportedly fallen victim to a scammer, after it was revealed they had signed a partnership with a Chinese automotive company – only to find out that the company knew nothing about it.

The Gunners believed they were going into business with BYD, making the Asian firm the club’s ‘official car and bus partner’.

However, it’s been claimed that the BYD employee who flew to London to sign the documents doesn’t actually work for the company at all.

BYD have since been made aware of the scammer – known to the authorities as Li Juan – and have asked police to investigate.

Arsenal since issued the following statement:

This wouldn’t happen under Arsène’s watch.
