In a recent report, The Evening Standard claimed that Arsenal are eyeing a move for Orlando City winger Facundo Torres during the January transfer window. It has been mentioned that the Gunners are hoping to hold talks over a potential move for the Uruguay international this winter.

Torres’ Impressive Numbers In Major League Soccer

Torres has enjoyed an excellent campaign at Orlando City where he has produced a run of influential displays down the left flank. The Montevideo-born talent has banged in 13 goals and secured ten assists in 40 matches for the American outfit this season across all fronts.

The 22-year-old has been a consistent performer in the final third based on his average of 1.6 shots, 1.3 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in Major League Soccer. He has even taken care of the ball when distributing possession in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 83.6% in league football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at Orlando is set to run out in the summer of 2025. Therefore, Arsenal would have to make a sizable offer if they are serious about recruiting the Uruguayan wing wizard this winter.

Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Get Torres On Board?

Torres excels at creating space for himself to get a few shots in on-target. He has got the eye to play a decisive pass in the final third and can strike the ball well from long range. Torres is primarily a left-winger but can also fill in as a right-sided wide player or as a centre-forward if his manager asks him to do so.

The Uruguay sensation has added plenty of goals and assists to his game this season. Hence, he will be a good fit for Arsenal‘s needs at the moment as he will strengthen their attack even more next year.

We can expect Torres to inject more goals and creativity into the North London club‘s attack. He could even offer some healthy competition for Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli in the race to earn a regular starting spot at the Emirates Stadium in the coming seasons.

At 22, the future looks quite promising for Torres as long as he continues to work hard on getting better on the field. Thus, the Gunners would be wise to get him on board when the transfer window reopens at the start of next year.
