Arsenal are expected to sell Folarin Balogun during the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
The Gunners graduate spent the 2022/23 season on loan with Reims where he bagged 22 goals and three assists.
Balogun recently netted his first international goal for the United States, and he could be involved in Arsenal’s pre-season.
Despite this, the Gunners are likely to part ways with him with interest from clubs in England and abroad.
Balogun has no plans of signing a new contract beyond June 2025 or going out on loan again.
The youngster is eyeing regular first-team football which seems unlikely at Arsenal next season.
Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah are ahead of him in the pecking order for the number nine role.
Ornstein said: “All indications are that Folarin Balogun will be sold this summer.
“Barring an unexpected twist, they’ll need to find a solution that suits all parties.
“Sides from England, Italy, Germany and France are tracking him. If he is to go, he should generate a decent fee.”
Balogun is currently valued at £35 million by the Gunners. This seems a reasonable price for a striker who has yet to become a regular for the club. He has made just 10 appearances.
The Gunners should include a buy-back clause as part of the negotiations with his suitors. If not possible, they should at least ask for the first-refusal option on the 21-year-old.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta clearly trusts Jesus and Nketiah over Balogun, who is unproven at the Premier League level. With the youngster’s urge to play regularly, the club have no choice but to sell.
The club could decide to keep him for another 12 months, but they could suffer a financial hit if he struggles to impress.
Arsenal could end up losing him on a cut-price deal next summer and it makes sense to cash in on the promising forward.
