In a recent report, SportBILD (via Sport Witness) revealed that Arsenal are set to rival Liverpool for Eintracht Frankfurt youngster Hugo Larsson. It has been claimed that the Gunners are keen on recruiting the Swedish midfielder.
Larsson has put in a handful of impressive displays at the centre of Frankfurt’s midfield during this campaign and is currently amongst the best young central midfielders in the Bundesliga. The 19-year-old has scored two goals and picked up two assists in 26 matches for his current club this season in multiple competitions.
The Swedish sensation has anchored the midfield with conviction as he is averaging 1.6 tackles, 1.4 interceptions and 0.9 clearances per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from midfield after making 87.8% of his attempted passes in the top tier of German football (stats via whoscored).
Larsson is under contract at the German club will expire in the summer of 2028 which could make it difficult for the Gunners to snap him up on the cheap this year.

Larsson is a tough-tackling midfielder who can scan the danger well to earn the ball back for his team in the middle of the park. He doesn’t hesitate to clear the danger when the opposition are on the offensive. The Swedish talent has even added a few goals and assists to his game this season. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a holding midfielder if asked to do so by his manager.
We can expect Larsson to bring more bite and steel to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s midfield department. He is already good enough to serve as an important member of the North London club‘s squad.
At 19, Larsson is undeniably a star in the making. Hence, the Gunners will do well to win the race for his services. However, there are some concerns over whether the gifted starlet can cope with the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football if Arteta can find a way to get a deal done for him this year.
