USA attacking midfielder Paxten Aaronson has signed for the Colorado Rapids in the MLS.
Eintracht Frankfurt and the Colorado Rapids have agreed terms over the permanent transfer of Paxten Aaronson. The midfielder moved to Frankfurt in January 2023 from Major League Soccer side Philadelphia Union and made seven Bundesliga appearances in his first half-season. He also made his senior debut for the US national team in this period and was part of the side that reached the quarter-finals of the 2024 Olympics. In February 2024, the now 21-year-old was sent on loan to Vitesse Arnhem and then spent the previous season on loan at fellow Dutch club FC Utrecht, where he finished the campaign as the team’s top Eredivisie scorer with eight goals as well as four assists.
He trained with Eintracht during pre-season this summer and scored his first competitive goal for the Eagles in the club’s first match of the season – against FV Engers 07 in the DFB Cup last Sunday. In total, Aaronson made 23 competitive appearances for the Hessians, registering one goal and three assists.
“Paxten has demonstrated his potential both in pre-season and in his appearances for us,” said sporting director Timmo Hardung. “The loans in the Netherlands advanced his development. With a view to the 2026 World Cup, which is taking place in his home country, among others, he made the request to take his next step at the Colorado Rapids. We wish Paxten all the best and lots of success for his future.”
