In a recent report, Mundo Deportivo revealed that Arsenal are facing tough competition for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi. It is believed that the Gunners would have to compete with Barcelona and Juventus in the race to land the Spanish midfield ace this summer.

The 25-year-old is having a decent campaign at Real Sociedad after producing a handful of solid displays for them in the middle of the park. Zubimendi has played in 45 matches for his current employers this season, finding the back of the net four times and securing one assist across various competitions.

The Spanish talent has given a good account of himself by averaging 1.6 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 1.7 clearances per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has also been careful when interchanging possession with his teammates based on his pass success rate of 86.4% in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).

Zubimendi’s current contract at the Spanish club will expire in the summer of 2027 which would make it difficult for the Gunners to sign him on the cheap later this year.

Arsenal Are Facing Stiff Competition For Zubimendi: Is He Worth The Fight?

Zubimendi is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his side at the centre of the park. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when needed and is a good passer of the ball as well.

The Spanish midfield ace can also chip in by scoring the odd goal for his team. He mainly functions as a holding midfielder but can also operate as a box-to-box midfielder if asked to do so by his manager.

We can expect Zubimendi to bring more bite and steel to Arsenal‘s midfield department if he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League. He is more than capable of securing a regular playing spot in Mikel Arteta‘s first team next season. Hence, the Spanish sensation would be well worth the fight, so the Gunners should focus on going all out to bring him to the Emirates Stadium when the transfer window reopens at the end of this campaign.
