Arsenal Are a Difficult Club to Understand When it Comes to The Transfer Market as Recent Decisions Are Baffling at Best | OneFootball

According to reports from Goal.com, Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, currently on loan at FC Nurnberg, is attracting interest from various Bundesliga clubs ahead of a potential move. The Arsenal centre-back has impressed several suitors with his performances for the tier-2 German club.

His displays for FC Nurnberg haven’t gone unnoticed with teams in the top tier and as many as five Bundesliga clubs have registered interest in the 22-year-old defender. They are keen to sign the defender on a permanent deal once the transfer window opens in the summer.

Most Premier League clubs tend to have a clear idea of their direction in terms of what they have at their disposal and what they need. It’s normally a direct process where the coach identifies targets, the board agrees to pursue the transfer and a legal team makes it a reality.

Managers decide to separate the wheat from the chaff, from which point, everyone knows where they stand but at Arsenal its recurring mystery, none more so than their stupidity in purchasing and dispensing with defenders.

Polish giant Krystian Bielik (22) came to Arsenal in 2015 but failed to be given an opportunity. He arrived with a decent reputation that indicated a regular first-team place was waiting for him. Instead, he spent time injured, in the reserves, then on loan before being sold off to Derby County for £8m.

It appeared to be a good move from a business point of view, but supporters can’t understand why he wasn’t given a run in the team. He had the physicality and pedigree and only cost £2.4m when he moved from Legia Warsaw.

Now we learn that Arsenal may be about to dispense with the services of Konstantinos Mavropanos (22) and we had similar expectations to Bielik when he moved to Arsenal from PAS Giannina in 2018. He was seen as the heir to the Koscielny throne but his Arsenal career followed a familiar pattern to that of his Polish colleague, with just a handful of opportunities, followed by injury and then a loan move.

Now it’s said that Konstantinos, who is currently on loan with FC Nurnburg in Bundesliga 2, will leave with several suitors interested. Why?
