Real Sociedad’s place in Europe for next season is far from assured, and their chances of securing qualification have now taken a significant hit, after it was revealed that Martin Zubimendi suffered a hamstring injury during Tuesday’s training session.

It’s not been revealed how serious the injury is, but it may not be a small one. According to information from El Diario Vasco (via Estadio Deportivo), the 25-year-old has suffered a fibre rupture, which could mean that he plays no further part for La Real this season.

Zubimendi has had another fine individual season, despite Real Sociedad having struggled domestically. This has led to more speculation of a summer move, with the likes of Arsenal, Barcelona and Bayern Munich having been linked in the last few months. If he is ruled out for the remainder of the campaign with this injury, it could end up that he has already played his final match in the blue-and-white.
