Arsenal are among the most attentive clubs to Gabri Veiga, with Celta de Vigo’s president confirming four Premier League clubs have enquired.

Speaking to the media this week, Celta de Vigo president Carlos Mouriño denied receiving contact from Real Madrid, before confirming that four of the Premier League’s top-10 sides had made enquiries for 20-year-old Gabri Veiga.

“Real Madrid has not asked us, we don’t know if they will have called the player,” Mouriño said.

“Of the top-10 teams in the Premier League, four have asked.

“For us, he is not for sale. We refer to the clause. We have nothing to negotiate with anyone.”

Matteo Moretto of Relevo adds that Arsenal are among the most attentive to Veiga’s case, so it seems safe to assume the Gunners were one of the four clubs to enquire.

Despite Mouriño’s claim that Veiga isn’t for sale, it looks like they might not have much of a say in the matter.

As the club president mentions, Veiga has a release clause, with multiple reports putting it at €40m (£35.2m).

That’s far from an unaffordable figure for the kinds of clubs on his case.

Veiga reportedly isn’t desperate to leave, so he’s unlikely to push for Celta to accept less than his release clause.

The youngster is comfortable with his current club and feels valued, though Celta would likely need to increase his wages to keep him happy if he stays beyond this season.

The midfielder has nine goals and three assists in 25 appearances in La Liga this season, having made just 18 starts.

A Spanish u21 international on top of his club exploits, Veiga looks certain to attract plenty of suitors in the coming months if his current form continues.
