Former AC Milan and Barcelona sporting director Ariedo Braida has shared his belief that Inter’s Lautaro Martinez is perfect for Barcelona.

For a good few months now, Lautaro has drawn extremely strong links to the reigning La Liga champions, who are understood to see him as the long term replacement for the ageing Luis Suarez.

“Barcelona are looking for a striker and want Martinez and he would be perfect. This year he has had incredible growth. I have seen him play two or three times at San Siro and he impressed me,” he remarked in an interview with Milan based newspaper Il Giornale.

Braida, who left his position at the Blaugrana a few months ago, also spoke on the speculation concerning Lionel Messi’s future at Barcelona.

Reports in Italian, Spanish and Argentine media recently suggested Messi could leave Barcelona this Summer due to a clause in his contract but Braida has admitted he cannot see the multi-time world player of the year leaving the club.

“Goodbye to Barça? I don’t think so. He is very close to the city, he is now an adopted Catalan. Fans and teammates love him, there is no reason for him to leave.”

In conclusion he stated who he would bring at Inter to replace Lautaro Martinez should he go on to leave the club this Summer.

“If I were at Inter I would sign Aubameyang straight away. We are talking about a great goal scorer with extraordinary speed. He would integrate well with Lukaku, who remains the most decisive player Inter have.”
