Their defeat to Morocco on Wednesday has gone down in history as one of the most remarkable matches ever.

And after that it would have been quite easy for Javier Mascherano’s side to sit on their laurels and not turn up for today’s game against Iraq.

But the reigning world champions have been excellent in the opening exchanges and scored after only 14 minutes thanks to Thiago Almada’s brilliant volley.

Almada has joined Brazilian side Botafogo this summer but on this evidence, will surely be troubling one of Europe’s major leagues in the not too distant future.

If the score stays like this an Argentina win, that makes Morocco’s game against Ukraine later very interesting in Group B.
