Antonee Robinson out until 2019 after ankle surgery

Antonee Robinson, the 21-year-old Everton left-back on loan at Wigan, has undergone ankle surgery and has been ruled out until the turn of the new year.

The United States international has started all but three of Wigan’s Championship games this season and has been a key man for Paul Cook’s side while on season-long loan.

“Jedi (Antonee Robinson) had an operation and will be out for around 10 weeks but I was very happy with how Kal Naismith filled in for him on Saturday,” Cook said.

“We do have a genuine need for a left-back come January and that’s something we’re already looking at.”

Wigan could use all the help they can get, as they are currently in 18th place, just four points above the relegation zone.
