AS Monaco are delighted to announce the arrival of Ansu Fati. The 22-year-old Spanish international striker joins on loan from FC Barcelona for the 2025/2026 season, with an option to buy.
Born in Bissau (Guinea-Bissau) on 31 October 2002, Ansu Fati grew up in Spain (Andalusia), where he moved at the age of six. He began playing football at CDF Herrera, before moving on to Sevilla FC, before joining La Masia, FC Barcelona’s youth academy, in 2012.
He made his professional debut for Barça on 25 August 2019, aged just 16. A precocious talent, he quickly proved his worth in La Liga and the Champions League. On 10 December, he scored the winning goal against Inter Milan (2-1) and became, at 17 years and 40 days, the youngest goalscorer in the competition’s history.
He finished the 2019-2020 season with over 30 appearances and 8 goals, finishing second in the 2020 Golden Boy award, which honors the best player under 21 in Europe.
With Barcelona, where he played in several attacking positions – winger, attacking midfielder, striker – he made 123 appearances (29 goals and 8 assists) and won two Spanish league titles (2023 and 2025), two Spanish Cups (2021 and 2025) and two Spanish Super Cups (2023 and 2025).
Ansu Fati spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion. He made his Premier League debut there, making 27 appearances for the English club (4 goals, 1 assist). A Spanish international since 2020, he took part in the 2022 World Cup and then won the 2023 Nations League.
This season, Ansu Fati will debut in Ligue 1 with AS Monaco, strengthening the Monégasque attacking options.
