Anna Aehling joins Eintracht | OneFootball

The 20-year-old defender and German youth international has signed a contract until summer 2023.

Eintracht’s defensive ranks will be strengthened by Anna Aehling from the second half of the current campaign. The promising German defender has penned a deal with Frankfurt Women until 30 June 2023.

The 20-year-old Coesfeld native made 49 Women’s Bundesliga 2 appearances for FSV Gütersloh between 2018 and 2021, while simultaneously rising through the Germany youth ranks.

After graduating from the Mädchenfußball-Internat zur Eliteförderung (girls’ football boarding school for elite development) in Kamen-Kaiserau, Westphalia, Aehling spent a year at Indiana University in the USA on a football scholarship. She earned a regular place on the women’s soccer team in the highest college division, predominantly featuring at right centre-back but also impressing at full-back.

“In the USA, I was able to get to know a different concept of the game and broaden my horizons, as well as developing tactically and as a person,” said Aehling. “I had a very good feeling right from the start and can identify with Eintracht’s philosophy extremely well. I’m also very grateful that I’m being offered the opportunity here to take the next steps in my development and gain top-flight experience.”

Sporting director Siegfried Dietrich added: “In our targeted search to compensate for the injury-enforced absences in the winter transfer window, we were in complete agreement with the head coach that we wanted to sign a top talent, in line with our general philosophy, and an experienced player like Sara Doorsoun for our defence. I’m therefore very pleased that Anna Aehling opted for us straight away after holding talks with Niko Arnautis and wants to take the next step in her career with us.”
