Angel Gomes arrives in Marseille ahead of 3-year deal | OneFootball

According to a report from Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport, Angel Gomes (24) has arrived in Marseille to undergo a medical ahead of signing a three-year contract with Olympique de Marseille. The England international joins from rival Ligue 1 side Lille OSC on a free transfer, having come to the end of his contract with the Northern club.

The former Manchester United player had been a target for several Premier League sides looking to strengthen their midfield options this summer, with Hawkins writing that West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur had been interested in trying to secure a deal. However, Gomes was reportedly sold on the Marseille project and completely committed to joining Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

Marseille will be able to offer Gomes another season of Champions League football after they secured a runners-up berth this season. At Lille, Gomes was part of a side that defeated Real Madrid and reached the Round of 16 of the competition.
