Former Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is under consideration by Nottingham Forest should they choose to part ways with Nuno Espirito Santo, according to journalist Matteo Moretto.

Despite leading Forest to a seventh-place finish last season, Nuno’s long-term future is becoming increasingly shaky following reports of a rift with the club’s hierarchy.

The 51-year-old has openly acknowledged significant problems within the Forest squad.

He described the team as “unbalanced” and admitted there has been a lack of proper preparation, worrying that the club is “very, very far” from where it should be this season ahead of a European campaign at the City Ground.

Despite a busy summer which has seen Forest bring in eight new players, Nuno also highlighted some uncertainty about player arrivals.

While it is unclear whether Forest will sack Nuno, they are already drawing up a list of potential replacements, with Postecoglou as one of the candidates.

Tottenham fired Postecoglou after a shambolic debut second season in North London, although he did lead them to Europa League glory courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the final.

The Australian was under consideration by Brentford to replace Thomas Frank, who Spurs had hired as his successor, but the Bees eventually opted to hire Keith Andrews.

Postecoglou would welcome the chance to return to Premier League management, having left Tottenham with the feeling of unfinished business.

As speculations continue over his future, Nuno will be focused on leading Forest to two wins from two league matches so far when they visit Selhurst Park to face off against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
