Spurs boss Thomas Frank says he is confident more signings will arrive at the club before the window shuts, having appeared to have missed out on Ebere Eze.

While not mentioning the Crystal Palace attacker, who looks set to join north London rivals Arsenal, by name, Frank made the point that he only wants players who want to join the club.

“I don’t speak about specific players, unless they are at our fantastic club,” he said.

“There have been a lot of rumours, a lot of times there’s nothing in it. That’s part of the business. There will be a lot of links, to generalise that, to be very, very clear, I don’t want any players that don’t want to come to the club. They don’t want to come to the club, to wear this fantastic badge, we don’t want them here.

“It’s a couple of things, the club is working very hard to see if we can strengthen the squad with players who can improve the squad. That’s what we’ll continue doing until the end of the window.

“We need to do everything we can to be as competitive as possible. I am confident we will sign a player before the end of the window.

“Every club wants to sign players as early as possible, but it’s not that easy.”

Destiny Udogie is again set to miss out when Tottenham take on Manchester City on Saturday, meanwhile.

“Destiny [Udogie] is better, trained with the team twice, full training, just too soon to be involved for City. We want him to train tomorrow and have another good week next week. He looks in a good place, very positive about him.

“Biss (Bissouma) will miss this game as well. [Dejan] Kulusevski is out, that’s a longer one,  I don’t want to put a timeline on it.”
