Andrey Santos called up to senior Brazil squad for first time | OneFootball

Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos has been called up to the 23 man Brazil squad for the upcoming international break.

The 18 year old signed for Chelsea back in January, and then went back to South American to star in the continent’s under 20 championships.

After a brilliant time there, it was hoped he’d be able to link up with Graham Potter’s squad for the second half of the season. But his work permit application was denied (by just one point), forcing a change of plans.

Yesterday it was announced that he would return to Vasco de Gama, the club we signed him from, for a few months in the interim.

It’s a glorious moment for Andrey, and a sign of things to come for Chelsea – not many teenagers get into the senior selecao squad.

But what’s frustrating is that callup could have got him the point he needed to be playing with Chelsea right now.
