Everton will clash heads with Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday evening as they try to secure all three points away from home. The Toffees have made an excellent start to this campaign after winning three and drawing one of their four Premier League matches so far. Hence, we can expect the Merseyside outfit to be full of confidence ahead of this weekend’s clash at the West Midlands.

Rafael Benitez could set his team up in a 4-3-3 formation and could make one tweak to his first XI for this game. Andre Gomes could come into the side to feature as a midfielder while Ben Godfrey makes way for him and drops to the bench.

Defence

Jordan Pickford will operate as Benitez’s first-choice keeper after he allowed one goal versus Burnley in his last league outing. Michael Keane could resume his defensive partnership with Yerry Mina at the heart of the Everton backline as they try to keep Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings at bay during the 90 minutes.

Seamus Coleman will function at right-back while Lucas Digne looks to produce a productive performance on the other flank as the left-back. Benitez will offer both his full-backs the license to get forward and join in on the attack. However, their main priority would be to stop the Villa wide players from creating too many chances from the flanks.

Ben Godfrey will have to settle for a place on the bench as he provides cover for the centre-back spots.

Midfield

The Toffees midfield could be comprised of Abdoulaye Doucoure, Allan and Andre Gomes this weekend. All three Everton midfielders will have to ensure that they work hard towards outrunning the opposition at the centre of the park so that they can get hold of the ball and create some decent openings for the front players on the counter.

Tom Davies will be named on the Everton bench but could come on to provide some energy in the second half if required.

Attack

Demarai Gray managed to find the back of the net against the Clarets last weekend, so he will be eager to put in another influential display down the left wing. Andros Townsend also got in on the goal-scoring act in his last league start and will continue to operate from the right side of Benitez’s attack.

Richarlison will once again spearhead the Everton attack in the injury absence of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
